My name Kobla Abini. I’m currently 15 years old. I love basketball, I like staying active. My interest is playing in the Nba. I currently live in Uptown. I joined MAVReC because I want to learn more about the program because I was interested about the the two topic we are covering.

My name is Jeremiah i am 15 yrs old, i was born and raised in Chicago(rogers park). I go to Gordon Tech High School/DePaul college prep, and im a sophomore in highschool. I joined MAVReC to voice my opinion and help make a difference in Chicago.

My name is Meechie. I am 15 years old and an incoming senior. I am attending for MAVReC because i want to make a difference  for the city or help it and hopefully it will work for oppressed communities throughout the United States, to learn/observe/help solve the problems that plague many oppressed communities. I am interested in slam poetry, art, writing, and history.

I am Jeremiah Crawford and I am a Future programmer who is interested in police brutality. Willing to learn more about different programming languages and real world problems. 16 years of age.

We are the MAVReC! We want to stop the violence

I’m Marvin Poole and I am 15 years old. The reason I’m in MAVReC is because I like the topic of non violence due to the fact I’ve been living in neighborhood with lots of violence.

 

My name is Angel Steier. I am 18 years old I live in North Park and I joined MAVReC to help get people’s voices out who are not normally heard.

My name is Obed Yeboah. I live in the the Uptown neighborhood. I joined MAVReC to help make change in the community. I am 17.

My name is Marques Strong. I am a student at Uplift. I love playing basketball, music, money, God, and helping making a difference. I joined MAVReC to help make a difference and to get paid. I live on the west side of Chicago, in the Pulaski area.

My name is William Kang. I am 17 years old and an incoming senior in high school. I joined MAVReC because I want to help build solidarity between the Korean community and other oppressed peoples worldwide, learn more about people’s experiences in their own communities and their struggles, as well as to spread awareness about the many issues affecting our communities.

My name is Cobie Harris and I’m 15 years old. I live in L-town, on North Avenue. I joined MAVReC because i want to keep my older brothers safe and out the streets. I’m Noah Eberhardt. I am 14 soon to be 15 and I joined MAVReC to help the people suffering from police violence on the street from stopping in raise of money because of the richer people into town.

I’m Eli Holmes, from the South Shore Drive area. I joined this program because I wanted to help change the city of Chicago and inform people of the things that are affecting our city and must help to bring about change.

My name is DaQuan. I like football,basketball and all kinds of music. I live in the south in Damen.

Brett Coleman

I’m a doctoral candidate in Community and Prevention Research at UIC. I co-created MAVReC with youth to provide a space for young men of color to resist stereotypical and marginalizing representations and to refocus violence prevention on systemic violence and root causes, not just individual’s behavior.

My name is Timmy Rose and I’m a facilitator at MAVReC. I’m for the liberation of all oppressed people. I joined MAVReC to build with and center the voices of young men of color.
